Zeocin? Selection Reagent is a member of the bleomycin antibiotic family. Resistance is conferred by the Sh ble gene that encodes a 13,665 dalton protein. In cells expressing the protein, Zeocin? antibiotic is prevented from binding and cleaving the cellular DNA. Zeocin? antibiotic is effective on most aerobic cells and can be used for selection in mammalian and insect cell lines, yeast, and bacteria. The amount of Zeocin? required for selection will vary between 50-2000 μg/ml (typically 300 μg/ml) depending on the cell type.
